St Stephen’s Church – Vespers Service

A vesper service (or Vespers) is a traditional Christian evening prayer service held around sunset. The name comes from the Latin word vesper, meaning “evening”.

Traditionally it is celebrated at twilight to mark the close of the day and, in some traditions like Orthodox or ancient Jewish reckoning, the beginning of the next liturgical day. It is rooted in the ancient practice of lighting evening lamps and burning incense, representing Christ as the “Light of the World”

Takes place in St Stephen’s Church at 5.30pm, Monday – Friday and is a sung service on a Thursday
