Full Peal of the 8 Bells at St Peter’s

On Sunday 17th August between 12 noon and about 3.15pm, the eight bells at St Peter’s will be rung to a full peal by members of the Ancient Society of College Youths, a bell ringing society established in London in 1637. The Society is international and membership is granted to ringers who have achieved a high level of competence in change ringing. The ringers for the peal are Dorset and Hampshire based members.

St Peter’s bells were cast in 1937 by Taylors of Loughborough which is now the only bellfoundry in the UK. The largest bell, the tenor, has a weight of just over one ton.
