The Civic and Parish Church of Bournemouth

Easter Day Refections from the Rector

Dear Friends,

“The Lord is risen, Alleluia!” – and we all reply to this oldest of Christian greetings:

“He is risen indeed, Alleluia!”

Holy Week brings before us just so much.  It is more than we can cope with; and it is entirely right that should be so.

Earlier this week, I recorded for us, a reading of Jesus’ Passion – see this link: PASSION READING

There are also some reflections about the death and resurrection of Jesus, asking, ‘Does the Church attract losers?’  – follow this link: HOLY WEEK REFLECTION

On Good Friday, with the rough wooden cross tied to St Peter’s High Altar as my background, I recorded a reflection on Jesus breathing his last breath – inspiration and expiration; on this link: GOOD FRIDAY REFLECTION

Fr Paul Collins, as the conclusion of the Lent Course he has kindly led for us – ‘The Sign of Jonah’ – has contributed a video reflecting on Holy Saturday; link: SIGN OF JONAH FOR HOLY SATURDAY

And for Easter Day, there are a few joyful thoughts about how Jesus encounters us in all kinds of lockdowns and ‘flings wide the gates’ – opening the doors to new life.  See this link: EASTER DAY

So – there is a rich feast of resources on the YOUTUBE channel for your enrichment in this Holy Season.

It is also, straightforwardly, so good to be worshipping in person again:

Come and join us, if you can at – on Easter Day –

10am Festal Communion:  St Peter’s

10am Festal Communion: St Augustin’s

10.45 am Festal High Mass:  St Stephen’s

More next week – but, for the moment – rejoice with me, for,

“The Lord is risen, Alleluia!”

“He is risen , indeed, Alleluia!”

Ian
