Choral music forms a central part of the worship at St. Peter’s. The choir has existed for more than 125 years, with boys and girls (from year 3) and adults singing at regular services and for special occasions. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings, and the choir sings on some Sundays and other occasions. Children and adults are offered a place in the choir after a short and informal audition. Choir membership is free of charge.
Being a chorister at St. Peter’s is rewarding and confidence-building. The choristers themselves mention the experience of performing exciting music, the trips and social events, and the friendships they make. What they might not notice are the life-skills: team work, self-discipline, responsibility, and concentration are all gained, together with musical confidence, as a chorister progresses.

|Wednesdays||5.30 – 7pm (choristers)|
|6.30 – 8pm (adults)|
|Thursdays||5.30 – 6.30pm (optional chorister session, singing technique, music theory, award preparation etc.)|
The choir sing for one full Sunday and two Sunday morning each month, on average. These sometimes vary, and there are occasional festival services as noted in the choir diary. Choir holidays usually coincide with school holidays and half-terms. These commitments are designed to give choristers plenty of weekend time off without reducing their capability or contribution.
