We have wanted for so very long to turn our slightly overgrown and tired grounds into an open space-to create a more modern welcoming destination for visitors. Our plans will Include spaces to sit, places to learn, areas for lunch-breaks, a wildlife trail and a historical trail. Also room for quiet reflection.
We are partnering with the Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) to realise some elements of this vision through their ‘Urban Green’ project. With funding from the National Lottery Communities Fund, Dorset Wildlife Trust identified St Peters Churchyard as a perfect urban greenspace to improve for both wildlife and people.
Other elements of the design we hope will be funded by further grants and corporate sponsorship.
There are lots of ways to get involved and help out and this is the first thing – planting the Cherry Trees – bought with money given to us by AFC Bournemouth – ‘The Cherries’!
