The Civic and Parish Church of Bournemouth

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Concert and more!

Come on down to St Peter’s Church tomorrow afternoon from 2.30pm and join us for an afternoon to celebrate the fruition of the ‘St Peter’s Reimagined’ plan to transform the churchyard into a welcoming green space for both wildlife and the community.

Over the past two years, the project has brought many local people and community groups together to clear undergrowth, plant wildlife-friendly plants, build seating and paths, install bug hotels and bird boxes, as well as creating history and wildlife interpreted trails, thanks to funding by the National Lottery Community Fund, BCP Council, Bournemouth Rotary and Dorset Wildlife Trust.

It promises to be an entertaining afternoon for all with storytelling by the volunteers themselves about the work they have done and their connection to the place, guided history and wildlife walks, exhibitions and a host of family and wildlife gardening activities, as well as a string quartet kindly provided by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra as part of their ‘BSO On Your Doorstep’ initiative.

Then at 5pm, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are putting on a FREE concert to all in celebration. Tickets can be reserved in advance at:

Parry’s Cafe will be open throughout serving a wide range of food and refreshments which can be enjoyed inside the church in the cafe or outside on one of the many picnic benches that are scattered around the 4-acre woodland site. A great way to spend an afternoon discovering a secret tranquil oasis in the centre of Bournemouth.

Everyone is very welcome to come along and see what it’s all about.
