Featuring Bath Philharmonia (conductor Jason Thornton); James Atkinson (baritone); Sam Hanson (organ); the Choir of St Peter’s Church; Bournemouth School Choir and players; and Bournemouth School for Girls Choir. This very special event, presented by St Peter’s in partnership with Wave Arts Education and SoundStorm, explores the history of the Church and its Resurrection Chapel through music and display.
The Chapel was designed by renowned architect Sir Ninian Comper to commemorate the fallen of the parish in the First World War. The concert features Stone and Voice, a world premiere focussing on the Chapel’s heritage, alongside a performance of Faure’s Requiem with a 60 strong choir, soloists and Bath Philharmonia.
The evening will also see the launch of an exhibition within the Chapel, created by young people, working with Dorset History Centre, St Peter’s, and artist Martin Coyne. For this evening only, the Chapel exterior will also be illuminated by Martin.
